Palm Oil? No!

Concerned about the health of our consumers and the future of our planet, we continue to improve our products with a focus on these same ideals...

Vegetable oils are the key ingredients in the food industry. They are widely used, from confection of pre-cooked meals to confectionery in caramels.

The vegetable oil commonly used in the food area is palm oil, due to its low cost. It is obtained by extraction of fruit found in palm trees (Elaesis guineensis). However, this oil can be harmful to human health, compared with other vegetable oils, and tree plantations for the palm oil are one of the sources for the environmental disasters that we witnessed, promoting global warming.

The palm oil used in the food industry is found in an oxidized state, which tells us that, nutritionally, has a high content of saturated fat and low content of polyunsaturated fat. And, in this follow-up, studies have shown that oxidized palm oil can cause toxicity in organs, especially kidneys, lungs, liver and heart.

Regarding the respect for the environment, most people are unaware that to be planting these trees, vast areas of pristine rainforests in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, has been and is being cut. This happens because of the high profitability of palm oil, which continues to attract investors, promoting the replacement of tropical rainforests with palm monoculture, causing a great amount of ecological problems. The destruction of tropical rainforests has contributed, largely, to the increased production of emission of greenhouse gases and the impact on biodiversity, because it reduces the habitat of several endemic species.

For us the health of our consumers and the planet comes first and in that sense, we are in constant search of the best ingredients to produce our products. Thus, we are proud to announce that we removed, since September 2015, from all our products the palm oil, replacing it with another healthy and ecological vegetable oil - sunflower oil.

We want ourselves to differentiate for the quality and continue to feed the trust of our customers!
